The Fox Theatre
“The Fabulous Fox” is a 1920’s structure built as a Yaarab Temple Shrine Mosque. Featuring Moorish architectural designs inside and out, highlights include onion domes, minarets and arches. Every surface is decorated with ornate plasterwork or gild. Huge ballrooms sill play host to opulent affairs. As rich as the Fox is in ornamentation, it has never appeared overstated. The main entrance opens to a pair of elegant staircases that sweep patrons into the balconies or to the main floor of the auditorium that is in the style of an Arabian courtyard, with stars twinkling overhead. “Mighty Mo” a 4000 key pipe organ is a one-of-a-kind treasure. The classic movie “Gone With the Wind” with Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh had its World Premier here in 1939. The Fox is still the site of traveling Broadway shows, concerts and classic movies 325 nights a year. Come see how “Lights out ya’ll!” leads to a memorable experience. |
